We are home, Felicity sighed. She looked around to see where they were. They had appeared next to the painting of her parents when they had first gotten married. Edward and Felicity looked at each other with a bittersweet smile. They reached out and touched the bottom of the painting.
They are at peace now, Edward said as he kissed his sisters cheek.
As are we, Felicity said. She turned to Deborah with a mischievous smile. Would you care to join me as I run through the castle screaming that we are back?
It would be my immense pleasure Felicity, Deborah said as she made a slight curtsey to Felicity. The two women looked at each other, took a deep breath, and began to run and scream through the castle that they were back.
Goodness they are loud, James said as he rubbed his ears. He smiled at Daviss obvious discomfort of the noise and picked him up. Are you glad to be home?
I have never had a home before, Davis said as he looked James in the eye very seriously. Will I like having a home?
Very much, James chuckled.
Maggie is going to adore you, Edward said as the three males moved toward where more female screaming was occurring. She was the one that practically raised your mother and I. She will be thrilled to have another little princeling under her care again.
That reminds me. Father, I abdicate from the throne.
Excuse me? James asked. I do not even know whether it is your mother or Edward who is to inherit the throne. Edward?
Edward looked at James blankly. Do not look at me. I have no clue. Maggie was so flabbergasted that mother was having twins that she mixed us up and did not know who was born first. I have no inkling about what mother and father did about it.
That might be the most ridiculous excuse I have ever heard. But Davis, why do you want to abdicate?
Because you are technically not my father, Davis replied reasonably. You and mother need to have a human child to rule. Besides, I wish to travel the Continent.
You are a very smart child, James said as he kissed Daviss head.
I have decided that I like being held, Davis announced.
Do not worry, James laughed. I am sure that you are going to get much of that over the next couple of months.
Prince! Prince! Maggie yelled as she came towards them excitedly. Welcome home! Maggie pulled up short as she looked at Davis quizzically. And who is this handsome young man?
I would like to introduce you to my son, Davis, James said as he looked at Davis proudly.
Son? Maggie said with a raised eyebrow at James.
Not biologically, Maggie, Davis chuckled. I call him father because the one that actually fathered me is not worthy to be mentioned. Maggie smile and gave Davis a small bow at his words. Edward chuckled and moved over to Maggie.
Maggie, you will be his nurse of course, Edward said as he put an arm around her shoulder.
But what about the orphans? Maggie asked as they made their way to very enthusiastic servents who were greeting Felicity and Deborah and asking a million questions at once.
But I need to be with other children; I need to learn! Davis piped up. That would be fun to be with other children! Please father?
Of course you can, James said. Your mother teaches classes there, so you can play with the other children during the day and sleep here at night.
But I do not need to sleep.
But you are half human now, Edward pointed out. You chose that when you stayed with Felicity. You need to sleep.
I never thought of that. Mother! Davis cried as he saw her. James put him down obligingly so Davis could run to her.
So Felicity was busy while you were away, Maggie said as she tried to smother a chuckle.
He is a Waef Maggie. Give the poor man a break, Edward said as he made his way to Daniel who had just shown up at the screaming scene with Lauren and Joy in tow.
He is a Waef? Maggie asked with wide eyes. He is quite a special boy.
He certainly is, James smiled as he winked at Felicity who was currently holding Davis. She winked back before she rushed to Lauren to greet her.
Look how big she is! Felicity gushed over baby Joy.
Her nickname is Joy, Lauren said proudly as the baby girl gurgled happily at Felicity and Davis. Davis looked at the little girl curiously while she reached out her hands to him. Would you like to hold her?
I do not know, Davis said uncertainly even as Felicity set him down and set his hands so that he could hold the baby. Lauren put Joy carefully in his arms. Joy laughed at Davis and clapped her hands at him. Davis smiled at Joy, and then at Felicity. I have never seen a baby before. They are cute!
Until they start crying, Lauren laughed. She then looked at Felicity with a secret smile. He is yours. I can tell. He has your smile.
Thank you, Felicity grinned.
Felicity, James said as he managed to make his way through the crowd of congratulators. He circled an arm around her waist. Laurens eyes looked like they were about to pop out from her face. James and Felicity laughed at her while she began to stutter out questions.
Later, Lauren, Felicity laughed. Much later. I need to get everyones attention for a few moments.
This is going to be a great story, Lauren squealed. Please; do what you need to do. Felicity and Lauren smiled at each other, then Felicity stepped forward into the crowd.
Everyone! Felicity yelled. They all quieted surprisingly quickly and looked at Felicity expectedly. Edward and Deborah are going to be married in about, Felicity glanced at the sun, four hours. Spread the word, and all servants report to me to know what needs to be done.
Four hours! Maggie yelled. What do you think I am? A miracle worker?
No, but Edward and Maggie have been waiting since they were, what Edward?
Ten, Edward shrugged. Give or take.
So therefore they will be married today. I am sure Madam Goochi has something in her shop, and I think Deborah and Edward would most like to be married in Air Peak Palace, correct?
You know us so well, Deborah grinned.
And now that all of the elementals have their full powers again, all Laulaons will be able to attend. James, Davis, and I will bring the necessary people that we need to make Air Peak Palace ready, and Maggie I want you to make sure that all Laulaons are in the courtyard in three and a half hours. Understood?
Yes princess, Maggie said as she threw up her hands. As you wish.
Thank you, Felicity smiled. Edward, help Maggie arrange everyone to get to the Air Peak Palace.
Yes! Edward saluted as he marched after Maggie.
Deborah, go to Madame Goochi and see if she has something for you.
I think she has been making that dress from the moment she saw me, Deborah laughed as she began to run to Madame Goochis shop.
Davis will get you when it is time for the ceremony! Felicity called after her. All right. I need someone to find me Jerome and Anna. I will need them to help decorate.
I will fetch them! Daniel volunteered as he ran of calling their names.
The rest of you, spread the word! There is going to be a wedding today!
The rest of the servants scattered quickly to start the gossip chain as soon as possible. Felicity looked down at the tugging of her dress.
What shall I do, mother?
Felicity came to his eye level. I need you to gather as many elementals as possible to request their help for transportation for the wedding.
I can do that. I shall return soon!
And me, princess? James asked as he glanced around at the empty room. What shall I do?
You can kiss me. It has been hours since you have, Felicity said with a dramatic pout as she put her arms around his neck. I think I might make a law against that.
Anything for my wife, James chuckled as he obligingly kissed her. When he pulled away, Felicity pouted again while James laughed out loud at her disappointment. And what now?
Well, I would like to go to our room, but that is not going to happen for quite some time, Felicity sighed dramatically.
We are not going to be alone for the rest of the day, are we?
No, we are not. However, Felicity said as she put her arm in Jamess and nudged him down the corridor. Once Edward and Deborah are married, there will be a large feast, with much merriment, late into the night
Felicity trailed off suggestively.
How late? James inquired.
Very late. Many shops will be closed tomorrow and no one will disturb anyone else for most of the next day, Felicity said airily.
I am suddenly very much looking forward to the wedding.
I thought you might.
You have returned! Jerome shouted as he and Anna ran to James and Felicity. I am so glad you returned safely!
We are as well, James said as he noted their linked hands. Now that they are here Felicity, what shall we do?
We will go to Air Peak Palace and begin to decorate. Everyone link hands. When everyone had joined hands, Felicity and James concentrated on Air Peak Palace and appeared there easily.
good. I have been waiting for you to come.
Felicity looked on her shoulder to find Nana looking very pleased with herself. Hello Nana. Are you here to help with the ceremony?
yes. Rachel and Andrew are here as well, along with Thomas and Abigal.
Would Rachel and Andrew provide some garlands to hang? Felicity requested.
you can ask them yourself. they should be arriving in a couple minutes. what would you like me to do, princess?
Could you please make sure that all of the torches are lit in this, Felicity gazed around at the awesome structure, at a loss for what to call it. Hall, and if you could have the fire sprites hang around in the ceiling for added light, that would be wonderful.
you always did have your mothers flair for setting a stage, Nana said as she rose on her hind legs and kissed Felicitys cheek. I have waited a very long time to do that.
I am just glad to know that the elementals have their emotions back, Felicity smiled. Thank you Nana. Nana nodded as see blinked out of sight to see about the fire sprites just as Rachel and Andrew appeared. How are you? Felicity said excitedly as she and James moved towards them.
We are so pleased that your brother and Deborah are to be married, Rachel said as she offered her hands to Felicity. Nana told us your request. We will get started on it right away. Perhaps your friends can help? she asked, referring to Jerome and Anna who looked at them with a mixture of curiosity and awe.
That is what they are here for, James chuckled. He waved Jerome and Anna over. Jerome, Anna, this is Rachel and Andrew. They will help you with whatever you need.
Thank you, Andrew said as he motioned to the two young ones to follow them.
So we are to have garlands around the pillars, James said as he allowed Felicity to lead him to the front of the hall, and fire sprites to add to the glow. Where does the air and water come in?
I see you already know my master plan, Felicity said as laughed. Deborah will come down the stairs and the ceremony will take place at the foot of the steps. Edward and Deborah can have their night here. I would love to have the water sprites and air sprites slightly lower than the fire sprites to dance above everyones heads. The earth sprites should be on the ground. They will be able to move out of the way of everyones feet. All humans should stay between the center aisles with the elementals who want to come should stay on the outside.
It will be a beautiful wedding, James said as he imagined everything that Felicity said. Why did you not plan our wedding then?
I had my hands full of other things, Felicity tossed over her shoulder as she made her way up the stairs and smiled at the air symbols. She could read them now.
Like? James asked, thinking he already knew what she was going to say.
I had training, watching Christopher, and you of course.
I was trouble? James questioned as he followed Felicity to the top of the stairs.
To my peace of mind, Felicity shrugged nonchalantly. She arrived at a certain door and pushed it open. This will be the honeymoon suite. James, do you think
That I could go get your uncle? Yes. Stay here and oversee everything for the wedding. I will retrieve them.
Have I told you recently that I love you?
No, but I like hearing it. James kissed Felicity soundly before he pulled away and grinned at her expression. I will return shortly. I love you.
Felicity sighed as James disappeared from the room. Felicity turned to the bedroom and began to arrange the place to how she knew Edward and Deborah would want it for later that night.
Do I look all right? Deborah fussed as she rearranged her veil over her face for what seemed like the fiftieth time.
You look lovely my dear girl and my future niece, Rose said put the veil back from Deborahs face. Everything is ready.
And, if I do say so myself, I have out done myself with this gown, Madame Goochi said proudly as she knelt at the hem of the dress and pulled a string off of it. I am so pleased that I thought to start making this dress as soon as Seth told me of the bet.
I am just glad that I thought of it, Felicity chuckled. Oh, and thank you again for sending the Brownies to me to help set everything up.
It was my pleasure, Madame Goochi said with a smile. And now, for your dress princess.
Mine? Felicity asked curiously.
Of course. Everyone needs a new dress for a wedding, she said as she clapped her hands for the Brownies who brought out the dress. Felicity gasped at the exquisite design of the dress. It was a light blue that shimmered in the light with water symbols that seemed to move with the movement of the dress. I am quite pleased with the work of this dress. I have made Deborah one as well for any special occasion with any earth elementals. Edward and James are wearing theirs for the ceremony.
It is beautiful, Felicity breathed.
I wish I could wear mine, Deborah laughed. Now hurry and get dressed. I am ready to get married!
All right all ready! Felicity laughed as she quickly dressed. I will just go down and see if everyone is ready. Felicity hurriedly left the room and nearly ran into Rainford.
Is she ready in there? Edward is about ready to jump out of his skin! Rainford laughed.
I think she is ready, Felicity said as she hugged her uncle. She meant it to be a quick hug, but she hung on to him for a little longer.
I have missed you as well, Rainford said as he returned Felicity hug tightly.
And now I will not even see you, Aunt Rose, and Christopher every day, Felicity said as she tried not to cry at another form of losing her uncle again.
I would not say that necessarily, Rainford said as he laughingly kissed her forehead. Felicity looked up at him in confusion. We are going to live here, Felicity. I will go to Maldaol during the day to help the wizards and I will set up a way for them to contact me here at night if they need me. You will see me in the morning and at night.
I love you, Felicity said as she gave his a resounding smack on his cheek.
I love you too. Now tell me if we can get this ceremony going! I am not sure if James can hold Edward back from rushing up here to take Deborah down much longer.
I am ready, Deborah laughed as she came out of the room with Rose and Madame Goochi behind her. Escort me, Duke Rainford?
Uncle Rainford, he corrected mildly as he offered his arm to Deborah.
Uncle Rainford, Deborah sighed happily. Aunt Rose and Madame Goochi, the two of you go down the steps first. The older women obligingly went down the steps as the crowd whispered in excitement. They knew the ceremony was about to begin. Now you Felicity.
Already making orders like a princess, Felicity winked at her as she began to walk down the steps. Felicity heard the crowd gasp as she appeared at the top of the stairs. Felicity mentally shook her head and smiled brightly at Edward, who winked at her saucily. Edward was in the clothes that Madame Goochi made him. His slacks and tunic were as pure white as Deborahs dress; his clothes had air symbols that traveled over the clothes.
Sister, you are stunning. Where is my bride?
Be patient! She is coming. And thank you Edward. Felicity saw Edward smile proudly at her. What is it?
You let me say you were beautiful. Your confidence has grown so much since this adventure came into our lives, which makes you all the more beautiful.
You are making me blush. And cry, but mostly blush.
That is my job. Edward and Felicity shared a special look between them.
Edward, no matter happens with James and I and with you and Deborah, we will still always be twins, right?
Always. Nothing will change that. I will still tease you and annoy you, and you will still straighten my clothes and yell at me.
Good. Felicity glanced up the stairway. And here is your bride.
Felicity took a quick glance around the hall to see that the entirety of the hall was filled with elementals and humans and the glow of the sprites all around. The hall was filled with garlands and lights that created the perfect ambiance for the ceremony. Felicity squeezed her brothers hand and kissed his cheek as he kept his eyes steadily on Deborah. Felicity spared Deborah a glance as she took her place next to James. Her white dress seemed to drape over her and hug her every curve. It shimmered in the wavering light as the veil seemed to frost her face. Felicity then immediately let her eyes travel the length of Jamess body. It was much like Edwards, but a deep red with fire symbols that wavered like flames. Felicity was very anxious for the ceremony to be over suddenly. James captured her hand and leaned over to whisper in her ear.
Please do not look at me like that. Otherwise, we might find ourselves in our room and miss the ceremony. What a stir we will cause.
I have done so before, Felicity said with a small and careless shrug.
You will be the death of me, he whispered.
So you have mentioned, Felicity smirked.
All the more true now, James said as he drew Felicity closer. They watched as Deborah and Edward made their vows to each other as Felicity and James whispered the words to each other again; this time with emotion behind them. When Edward and Deborah kissed, Felicity and James kissed too as the crowd erupted into cheers. The old age had ended, and the new one had begun.
